About Elizabeth:

Hello, I am Elizabeth Paulsen, I am exited to be the graduate level intern at Twin Cities Counseling.

Through my experiences, I have realized how much I enjoy working with couples.  Specifically, I enjoy working with couples experiencing communication problems and those deciding whether to continue with their relationship.  I also am passionate about supporting children and adolescents through challenging periods in their life.

My approach to therapy depends on a client’s needs, therefore I am constantly trying to learn more about clients and adapting my style accordingly.   I believe therapy can provide a powerful opportunity for self-understanding and balance restoration which ultimately leads to growth and emotional healing. I truly enjoy being a part of the therapeutic process and consider myself fortunate to be allowed to do so.  I have gained much experience with my work at the Emily Program.  This program offers an individualized approach to the treatment of eating disorders. I have learned how to adapt quickly and intervene as best fits a specific client in a specific situation. Overall, my work and volunteer experience continually allows me grow as a therapist.

On a personal note, I am married with a dog named Moe (see picture above). My husband and my family are the most significant part of my life.  I also enjoy being outside whether it be camping or boating with my family, hiking or walking with Moe around our neighborhood.  I recently have started an annual trip to the Boundary Waters with my sister and my dad!  Canoeing in the wilderness with nothing but the beauty and serenity of nature around me has been a remarkable experience.
Overall, I am very excited to be part of the Twin Cities Counseling team and look forward to what is yet to come.
