Trauma:

Has something happened to you that can't seem to recover from? Have you witnessed an event that you can't get out of your mind?

Have you been recently deployed? Having a difficult time reintegrating?

Do your will-meaning friends tell you things like "you did the best you could," "there was nothing you could do," and "it is time to get over it"?

Are you tired of having nightmares about your trauma? Do you want to be less effected by some of the "triggers" of that trauma?

Trauma is something that all people experience in their lifetime. Trauma doesn't have to be life-threatening to impact a person significantly. Some people characterized it as either "small" like if you tripped and embarassed yourself in front of a group of people or "big" like if you were in a car acciden't, had a painful medical procedure, were sexually assaulted, in an abusive relationship, etc. Regardless of how others see your trauma (that really doesn't matter).... it is how you are able to recover that is the important part! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get on with your life?

Generally, people do have the innate ability to recover from a trauma. We do it all of the time! Our bodies automatically know what to do and how to process the information. However, sometimes individuals experience or witness an event that is so significant that the body becomes too over whelmed to process the information. Eventually, we compartmentalize the event (build up a wall around it) and conciously try not to think about it. That doesn't work. It never goes away and becomes a "sore spot" that will effect the person at varying times. It is like having a cut on your finger verses a splinter. Even though the cut was painful, it will eventually heal. The splinter (trauma memory) will most likely remain as painful (or more painful) than the open wound. Isn't it time to remove your splinter and heal?

EMDR (What is this?) has been proven effective for treating individuals who have been effected by Trauma. This does work! I am fully trained in EMDR and can give you my individualized attention. What makes this a great trauma treament, is that it is faster than most other methods and people generally feel better about an event after the first EMDR session! I have witnessed EMDR change the way people view their traumas and themselves! I feel very fortunate that I am able to assist in that process. Would you like to get rid of the trauma memories in your life?
